Graduated in English and German Studies, by the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon, has a Masters in Cultural Studies and Critical Theory, by the University of Nottingham, in the United Kingdom, with a dissertation in gender studies.
Specialist in the field of gender equality, including issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity or expression, with particular focus on the areas of education, youth, community support and mainstreaming in public and private organizations, in which she has more than fifteen years of experience.
She has certified professional training for Victim Support Technician (TAV), in Domestic Violence: Prevention of Victimization and Re-victimization and in Domestic Violence among Same Sex Couples. She worked at the Center for Social Studies of Coimbra University, at the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality and at the National Federation of Youth Associations.
Founder and former director of the Ex Aequo Network (Association of Young Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Trans, Intersex and Supporters) working in support of youth in various regions of Portugal. She is also the founder and director of Casa Qui (Association of Social Solidarity – IPSS), which works in the field of social action, health and education in the thematics of sexual orientation, identity or gender expression. Casa Qui works to support youth who’s victim of violence because of their sexual orientation and / or gender identity or expression in the family and / or at school and to victims of domestic violence or dating in same-sex couples.
