Sociologist, activist and deputy to the Assembly of the Republic for the Left Block party. He graduated in Sociology at the Faculdade de Letras of Porto University, and completed his PhD at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra, in the field of Sociology, on transformations on labor and mobilization of precarious workers in Portugal. Currently, he is the coordinator of the Parliamentary Commission on Labor and Social Security.
He worked as an animator of expression workshops and received a Scientific Research grant from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). As an activist at Oprimido Theater, he participated in different collectives, projects and workshops in Portugal, Spain, Croatia, Norway, Germany and the United States of America. He is one of the founders of Óprima! – theater encounter of the oppressed and activism.
In addition to his weekly chronicles for the online newspaper Expresso, he published, among others, Don’t Believe in Everything You Think – Myths of Common Sense in the Age of Austerity, co-authored with Miguel Cardina and Nuno Serra (Tinta-da-China, 2013) , The Fallacy of Entrepreneurship, co-authored with Adriano Campos (Bertrand Editora, 2016) and Radical Left, co-authored with Miguel Cardina, published in the book Contemporary Political Ideologies (Rosas & Ferreira, Almedina, 2013).
